Answers to commonly asked questions about using EMDS 2.0. More questions will be added as the tool is used more widely.

Just as with EMDS 1.0, EMDS 2.0 is open for all gift solicitation-related emails from any campus unit. In fact, it is highly encouraged that any gift solicitation emails use EMDS.

We are hoping to also allow other types of emails to be sent through the system, but will be slowly onboarding new units and types of emails to ensure that our system and processes can appropriately scale.

If you are interested in beginning to use EMDS 2.0, please submit a request through our help request system.

This depends upon the type of email that is being sent. Gift solicitation emails and other university-level advancement emails can be sent without cost.

All other emails will incur a cost for sending through EMDS 2.0. Pricing is based upon the number of expected email messages and the total number of emails sent to constituents.

EMDS 2.0 is set up to handle mass emails where the same single message is being sent to many recipients.

Acoustic also allows for user journeys and targeted constituent segmentation. In these scenarios, multiple emails, a form that collects recipient information, and different pieces of communications based upon prior actions (filling out or not filling out the form, opening a prior email or not, etc.) might be part of an overall campaign.

Ways to leverage this functionality for non-University Advancement campaigns are currently being created, and more information will be provided when available. The current expectation is for this functionality to be available after the fall 2023 semester is underway.
